Figen Steinecke has been a lecturer in German as a foreign language at Boğaziçi University since February 2015. She currently teaches German as a foreign language in the Department of Modern Languages (YADYOK). In addition, she has been leading the translation seminars for the students of the Translation Studies Department since 2021. After completing her German studies at Hacettepe University in 1987, she taught German as a foreign language at Bilkent University in Ankara from 1987 to 1989. In 1989 she continued her studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) in the departments of German Studies and Sociology. In 1998/1999, she passed the State Examination for Translators and Interpreters and received the title "State Examined and Regional Court Authorised Translator of the Turkish Language". From 1992 to 2015 she taught German as a foreign language at several language schools in Frankfurt am Main and worked as a freelance translator and interpreter.
